Asha & Alex

As I write this post, we collectively find ourselves in unprecedented days with no shortage of things to worry about. And while I’m experiencing a lack of sessions to edit and people to photograph in this season, I figured there no better time to revisit and re-edit some old work.

It’s trite but true that we all grow and change as humans as the years go on. The very same is true for those of us who do creative work—for the sake of our craft it’s crucial that we learn new skills, expand our repertoire, and evolve as artists. Ask any photographer, and they’ll likely tell you about “that one photoshoot” or “that wedding they shot three years ago” that they never found the time to blog. I have many of these stories myself, however as time has rolled on my editing style has evolved and so sharing “that one wedding” would require an entire re-edit. Rarely is there the time and space to do such things, but as I said before, these are unprecedented days and time is a bit more abundant lately. Silver linings.

Revising old work is not only a nice little stroll down memory lane, but it serves as a great reminder of how much I’ve grown as an artist. I photographed Asha and Alex’s Indian/American fusion wedding back in 2015, when I was about 5 years into my photography career. I’ve grown a lot since then, and yet I can still see so much of my current self in this small sample of work. I’m so grateful this small selection of photos from their beautiful wedding can finally see the light of day. Nearly five years later is better than never!
